The Qur’an is Allah’s final statement to mankind, which was revealed to his last beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW). It is Allah’s guidance to the world. The Qur’an is Allah’s firm rope; whoever holds tight to it is led to salvation. Allah describes the reaction of the believers when they listen to the Qur’an.
Allah the Exalted said: (Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray-for him there is no guide.) (The Noble Qur’an 39:23)
Allah the Exalted said: (The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord, they rely) (The Noble Qur’an 8:2)
Unlike the disbeliever when they hear the Qur’an; Allah, the Exalted, described them by saying: (And when Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.) (The Noble Qur’an 39:45)
Allah described the Qur’an as being guidance and cure; He said: (Say, “It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure.” And those who do not believe – in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them blindness. Those are being called from a distant place) (The Noble Qur’an 41:44)
The Prophet praised in many statements those who recite, memorize, learn, and teach the Qur’an.
Ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messanger of Allah said, Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.) (At- Tirmidhi, declared sound by Al-Albani)
Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messanger of Allah said: (The best amongst you is the one who learned the Qu’ran and taught it.) (Al-Bukhari)
Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-‘As reported: The Prophet said: (The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: “Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last verse – Ayah-you recites.”) (Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi, declared sound by Al-Albani)
I ask Allah to make the Qur’an the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the departure of our grief, and the relief of our worries and anguish.
