The duration of menstruation and postnatal bleeding

  1. There is no specific limit for the menses duration, but the common period for a regular woman is six or seven days.
  2. In the case of postnatal bleeding, there is no limit for the last time for the blood to cease, and at most it does not exceed forty days. So if a woman completes forty days, she should take a full shower and start praying, even if the blood is still coming out. She needs to make fresh ablution – wudu’ – for every prayer.
